Jim on the Issues
Keeping our Families Safe
As a husband and father, I am concerned for my family’s protection as politicians prioritize the rights of criminals over law-abiding citizens. We must repeal ill-conceived soft-on-crime policies while investing in public safety, including new law enforcement personnel and the resources to ensure their success and safety. As your representative in Washington, I will advocate for stricter penalties for violent criminals, while ensuring the men and women who protect our streets have the support they deserve.
Reducing the burden on California Families
Too many California families are living from paycheck to paycheck, while many are still coming up short. I will work with my Congressional colleagues to give California families much-needed tax relief. As a small business owner, I am hampered by Federal anti-business regulations daily. I have witnessed extreme environmentalist special interests kill working family jobs. We need to have a working families first policy in Washington as opposed to a government that seems to only work for wealthy elites and corporate interests.
Empowering Parents
As a parent, I have always been frustrated with the lack of quality education and Washington’s use of our education system as a social engineering experiment instead of teaching students the fundamentals needed for success. We must return to the basics while creating new and better educational opportunities for our students. We need to empower parents to be involved and give them a school choice.
Support of local Agriculture Industry
I have been around the Central Valley’s multi-billion-dollar Agriculture Industry. We must protect our Delta Water while building more water storage above and below ground. We must also encourage sustainable practices such as water recycling, rainwater harvesting, and efficient irrigation techniques. It is time to get back to common sense practices, working with the federal government to revitalize our forest management and rich farm land which supplies not only California but the nation and the world. Our drought problem is not due to the lack of water but to poor policies that neglect or reject water storage infrastructure because of a radical environmental agenda. It is time to start putting people first.
Tackling our Statewide Homeless Crisis
Addressing the root cause of homelessness is fundamental.
Because of the democratic governors and legislature, homelessness is spirally out of control. We need to demand accountability and measured results from the state in order to negotiate additional federal aid. It is time to see results.
Fixing our broken immigration system.
Jim Shoemaker knows that our country is the land of opportunity. People from all over the world truly desire to make us their home. Jim knows that strong border security is vital for protecting our country from drug smugglers and human traffickers, and disease. Jim believes both border security and immigration reform are important pieces to our country's success.
